Samantha Markle comes for her half-sister Meghan once again. And this time, it’s in relation to hers and Prince Harry’s decision to quit the royal life.
A bold move
On January 8th, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced to the world that they were taking a "step back" from their duties as senior members of the royal family. At the time, people had a lot of questions especially because it was mentioned that the couple would reside in Canada part-time.
A few days later, the Duke of Sussex shared a video via the SussexRoyal Instagram account where he explained that he and his wife made this decision because they felt they had no other option. He also made it clear that this was a choice he and Meghan arrived at as a couple rather than something his wife made him do as was often stated by many at the time.
Samantha’s take on the whole thing
During a recent interview on KIIIS1065, Meghan’s half-sister, Samantha Markle, shared her views on what the media has now termed ‘megxit.’
She expressed the opinion that the Duchess of Sussex just couldn’t handle the pressure and publicity that came with her role which must have encouraged her to quit.
I think that she was squeezing her foot into the glass slipper and it really didn’t fit so she decided to slip into a shoe a half size to big.
Samantha went on to explain that people had a lot of expectations from Meghan and Harry and when the royals’ behavior led to some controversial responses, it became "stressful" for the Sussexes.

Samantha also blamed Meghan for not "stepping up to fix" the problems that arose from these criticisms and controversies.
Did Meghan confirm as much?
During an ITV documentary a few months ago, the Duchess herself did confirm that she was not okay with the intense public scrutiny and this just wasn’t something she saw coming.
While she didn’t admit any regrets about being in the royal family, she did say that she was warned beforehand about the tabloids. In addition, she revealed she struggled with the "stiff upper lip" sensibilities of the British.
Meghan’s father shares his views
Thomas Markle sat with Good Morning Britain recently and shared some of his opinions. He also opened up about his estranged relationship with his daughter.
- He stated that he didn’t believe the controversies Meghan coped with had anything to do with race.
- Thomas also revealed he had tried reaching out to his daughter to mend fences.
- He believed that the only choice he had to get Harry and Meghan’s attention was to grant interviews.

Harry and Meghan’s choice to step back from royalty came as a surprise to many. Clearly, her family didn’t expect it either. Based on their words, they apparently did not believe Meghan was justified to make such a decision. Samantha Markle, especially, didn’t have a lot of sympathy for her half-sister. But then, judging by the things she previously said about Meghan, this shouldn’t come as a surprise.
