Around the time of the royal wedding in 2018, Meghan Markle’s father was getting almost as much attention as the bride-to-be.
Several of Thomas Markle’s latest news had to do with the fact that he wasn’t going to give away the bride on the big day. And all these culminated in an even more intense look into the Duchess of Sussex’s family.
Before all the drama, Thomas Markle Sr. was enjoying a quiet retirement in Mexico. But around the time his daughter’s engagement to Prince Harry was announced, he began stirring up some major controversy including faking some photos for publicity and sharing that his daughter didn’t want anything to do with him.

Meghan Markle’s dad drama- The Duchess fights back
In the past couple of years, Meghan Markle’s father had a leg up in that the Duchess, as a part of the royal family, couldn’t respond to all the claims made against her. But this doesn’t mean she’s about to let things go after being falsely accused.
The royal mom of one has filed new documents in her fight against tabloid reports after accusing them of sharing false news about her and her family.

The DailyMail had previously published a letter written by Meghan and provided by Thomas, where the Duchess shared her deepest thoughts. Based on the letter, it appeared that Meghan wasn’t really on board with reconciling with her dad.
In the document reportedly filed by her legal team, Meghan claimed that the letter was printed without her permission and was also carefully edited and truncated to deliberately paint a picture of a relationship with her dad that wasn’t true.

The court papers stated that the excerpt of the letter posted by the publication "omitted and suppressed" some parts that made up nearly half of the actual content.
The omitted parts demonstrate the claimant’s care for her father and others, as well as her concern about the UK tabloid media exploiting her father.
The legal draft also refuted the claims that the Duchess of Sussex didn’t check on her father’s health stating that Meghan has "a long history" of looking after her dad and trying to solve any health problems.

In addition, the document cleared up the fact that, contrary to reports, Thomas Markle didn’t contact Meghan ahead of the 2018 wedding but rather, she was the one who reached out to him to "protect him" and make sure he would be able to attend. Meghan, via the court papers, also denied ignoring her father after the wedding.
Thomas Markle’s latest news – Duchess’ dad defends sharing her letter
In an interview with the DailyMail, Meghan Markle’s father defended his reason for sharing his daughter’s private later publicly.
He said he did so to fight back against reports that he was only giving interviews to capitalize on his daughter’s fame. He also revealed why he chose to post certain segments of the letter.
I only released parts of the letter because other parts were so painful. The letter didn’t seem loving to me. I found it hurtful.
With all the Meghan Markle’s dad drama, it does sound like these two still have a long way to go if reconciliation is in the plan. Both parties have defended their actions, but in the end, fans would prefer it if the love of family triumphs all and the Markles can see eye to eye again.
