In 2016, Donatella Versace, who serves as head of the Versace Group, recalled an interesting brush she and Madonna had with the current U.S. President, Donald Trump.

Donatella recalls meeting Trump.

Donatella shared details of this experience when she spoke to Luke Leitch in an interview for The Times. Her conversation with Leitch was out a few months before the American presidential elections, and Donald Trump was at the time the Republican nominee.

The unusual encounter

According to Donatella, they were in an apartment owned by Trump who showed up while they were shooting a campaign with Madonna. This was in 1995, and the apartment was the famous Trump-owned Palm Beach estate, Mar-a-Lago.

Trump had reportedly come with a gift of Kentucky Fried Chicken and was quite insistent that they eat it. They had to refuse his gift. This was discomforting for them because Madonna, at the time, was undergoing a fast. Donatella stated that they could not get rid of Trump.

Trump, famous for his responses to critics, particularly on Twitter, is not known to have responded to Donatella’s recollection of this experience. But the U.S. President came down hard on Madonna, who has been vocal in her criticism of Trump’s presidency.

During the Woman’s March, organized on January 21, 2017, to protest the American election of 2016, Madonna was captured on video saying she has thought a lot about blowing up the White House. She followed this statement by acknowledging that she realized the notion was futile.

Her statement was received with mixed reactions, with a number of people criticising her sentiments. The U.S. president, in his reaction to Madonna’s comments, when he appeared on the Fox News show, Hannity, called her "disgusting". He added that her comment was disgraceful to her country.
