Did Melania Trump Want To Become First Lady?

Melania Trump is quite unique as the FLOTUS for many reasons. First off, she’s the second FLOTUS in history that was not born in the United States (the first was Louisa Adams, a wife of John Quincy, who was born in England).

In addition, she’s the only First Lady who’s the third wife of a president and the only one who has waited for five months after the inauguration to move into the White House with her husband.

Despite all the media attention surrounding her, there still seems to be a certain mystery about her life and activities. One had to wonder if this status is one she’s not too thrilled about.

A friend’s revelation

When Vanity Fair did an in-depth report on Melania Trump, they interviewed to many people close to her, including one who revealed that Melania did not want to be First Lady.

An old friend of Melania reportedly told the magazine:

This isn’t something she wanted and it isn’t something he ever thought he’d win. She didn’t want this come hell or high water. I don’t think she thought it was going to happen.

Was she the reason why Donald Trump ran for president?

A few years ago, Trump was still toying with the idea of running for office. When he spoke to Melania about it, it seemed like she was the one who gave him the final push. The former model reportedly said:

Either run or don’t run. Your friends are tired of this striptease. Every four years you talk about it.

According to Vanity Fair, she may not have used those exact words, but another source did confirm that Melania’s impatience with her husband’s back-and-forth was what helped him make his decision.

A former adviser to Trump, Roger Stone, said that Melania knew her husband would not be happy if he did not, at least, give the idea of becoming president a try.

From these reports, it seemed Melania might not have been very interested in being First Lady, but she knew being POTUS would make her husband happy, and she supported him completely.
