Tina Campbell’s decision to accept her role in her husband’s extramarital affairs may appear controversial. But she has passionately defended herself a few times while also letting the world know that her life is all the better for it.

On finding out

The Mary Mary star once opened up on the Steve Harvey Show about how she discovered her husband, Teddy Cambell’s affair.

She revealed that someone reached out and told her after they made sure the information was correct. And she also said that the person Teddy was having an affair with at the time was someone very close to her.

Tina Campbell confessed that she spiraled out of control, "destroyed three cars," and was very angry. A clip from the reality show revealed just how far into the extreme Tina went as she tried to process Teddy’s betrayal.

In the video, her husband saw one of his cars which Tina had crashed and expressed how sad he was to see her struggling this way.

It was an incredibly difficult time for the couple but Tina decided to forgive her husband. When asked why she chose to allow the cameras to keep rolling rather than cope through this pain privately, the reality star revealed that she wanted her story to be a lesson and an inspiration for others.

Taking partial blame

Tina Campbell was beyond devastated to learn that Teddy actually had affairs with different women. This would have been the nail on the coffin for many marriages but the couple chose to work through it.

One of the ways Tina was able to forgive was to accept responsibility for her own part in the issues that arose in the relationship. She shared that she was "selfish" and was much too focused on the kids and her career.

Speaking to Ebony, she went on to add that she "emasculated’ her husband and understood how that impacted him negatively.

Moving on

The process of moving on from Teddy’s infidelities didn’t happen easily. It was a tough journey but the couple decided they wanted to fight for their marriage.

According to their website, their choice to "honor their vows" was a defining moment in the union. And while, for Teddy, this meant attaining a new level for spirituality, Tina said she realized who she really was when her "marriage fell apart."
