That's A Lot Of Lemons! Royal Wedding Baker Shares First Photos Of Harry And Meghan's Cake Preparation
As one might expect, a lot has gone into the preparations for the royal wedding scheduled to take place on May 19. And this also includes the wedding cake.
The wedding cake flavor
The couple chose pastry chef Claire Ptak, who owns Violet Bakery, as their official wedding baker. It’s very likely that this was Meghan’s choice, as she once interviewed Ptak for her now-defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig.

From the description of the cake, it’s pretty clear that wedding guests are in for a delicious treat. Harry and Meghan chose a lemon elderflower cake that will feature the "bright flavors of spring," a royal family statement revealed.
It will be covered with buttercream and decorated with fresh flowers.
In response to the announcement, Ptak shared an Instagram post expressing her excitement.
Kinda excited to announce this one!! Violet has been chosen to make the wedding cake for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. @kensingtonroyal They both share so many of the same values regarding food provenance, sustainability, seasonality and of course, flavour! Xxx 📸 press association
That’s a lot of lemons
We certainly cannot bake a lemon elderflower cake without lemons.
Ptak recently posted an Instagram picture that featured one of the most important ingredients of the cake. She simply captioned the photo with the words, "And so it begins."
And so it begins 🍋
In the social media image, fans can see six crates of Sicilian lemons that were delivered by Natoora, a fruit merchant based in East London.
Ptak’s followers were thrilled with this sneak peek. "So exciting," one commenter said, with another adding, "I cannot wait to see the end result."
The floral arrangement is being prepared as well
The flowers to be used for the wedding are apparently being set up too. In a photo shared by Daily Mail, a large order of flowers was seen leaving the shop of the royal wedding florist Philippa Craddock. The gorgeous display included large bunches of roses and blossoms.

According to a statement from the royal family that was shared in April, the flower display will feature "foliage from The Crown Estate and Windsor Great Park."
Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle have chosen floral designer @philippacraddock to create the church flowers for their wedding💐 The displays in St George’s Chapel will feature foliage from The Crown Estate and Windsor Great Park, and will use seasonal plants including branches of beech, birch and hornbeam, as well as white garden roses, peonies and foxgloves. The designs will reflect the wild and natural landscapes from which many of the plants will be drawn. The Royal Parks will also supply pollinator-friendly plants from their wildflower meadows. These plants provide a great habitat for bees and help to sustain healthy and biodiverse ecosystems. 📷PA

Everything is already shaping up, and we cannot wait to see the final results.
