On Saturday, actor Matt Damon hosted the Christmas episode of the popular sketch show SNL. During his speech, Damon took a moment to pay a tribute to his late father, Kent.
Kent Damon passed away a year ago on December 14. After a lasting battle with cancer, he sadly lost his fight with the disease.
His son Damon was heartbroken over his father’s demise. Just a few days before the sad news was revealed, the actor addressed all his fans asking them to say prayers for his dad. Unfortunately, Kent Damon couldn’t make it.
To mark the one-year anniversary of his dad’s passing, Matt Damon recalled from the stage some touching memories about his father.
The actor said they enjoyed watching SNL together. As a boy, he even used to stay up late just to watch the show with his dad.
I laughed at everything that my dad laughed at and, although it was way past our bedtime, my dad knew that there was nothing more important in the world than to laugh with the people that you love.
What a sweet way to commemorate his dad. It’s always heartbreaking to lose parents. Kent Damon would be proud of raising such a great son as Matt.
