Horses are cautious but at the same time very grateful creatures. They always remember the good people have done to them and express their gratitude in the most unexpected way. One of such touching moments happened in Romania between veterinarian Ovidiu Rosa and a wild horse.

In the Danube Delta, you can observe the herds of wild horses running around the prairies. These mammals laid the foundation for the domestic breeds of horses many centuries ago.

People from animal security organizations take care of these wild horses and keep an eye on their well-being. In particular, the members of Four Paws International control the number of wild horses, preventing their extermination, and regulate the birth rate through contraception.

Apart from that, animal security services have to deal with quite a cruel phenomenon: some horses have their front legs tied with iron chains, so they don’t run far. This practice is common among the Romanian population. However, metal chains dig into the animals’ skin, causing them to suffer from unbearable pain. When veterinarian Ovidiu Rosa saw another result of such a brutal hobbling, he decided to free the horse from iron.

He couldn’t immediately approach the animal. The frightened horse tried to escape from the person. Apparently, the animal soon felt friendly and peaceful intentions, so it trusted and allowed to carry out the small surgery to remove the chain.

Everyone was happy that the animal was saved. However, the most unexpected happened a bit later. The other horse that was watching the events from the side approached Ovidiu and gently touched his lips. What a tender sign of gratitude!
