Macaulay Culkin And The Famous Home Alone Villains 27 Years After The Movie Release

For 27 years Home Alone movie has been an epitome of all things Christmas represents: family values, magic, forgiveness, and the ultimate holiday spirit. Even though the first film came out in the distant 1990, new generations of kids, together with their parents who watched it in their childhood, continue to be thrilled by the excellent cast, captivating storyline and superb acting of Macaulay Culkin.

For the generation that watched Home alone in the 90’s, it is interesting to learn what happened to the main actors of the original cast and, the most important thing, how they have changed since that time.

Macaulay Culkin

The role of the inventive and witty boy Kevin McCallister has brought Macaulay Culkin international fame and the nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Musical or Comedy. He reprised the role of Kevin successfully in the 1992 sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York and starred in another successful film Uncle Buck. Strangely, all his following movies were not as huge as the first ones, even though he was paid $8 million for some roles, the highest salary ever paid to a child actor. His popularity was vanishing, and when his parents decided to separate in 1995, they started a legal battle over Macaulay’s custody and his fortune. Culkin decided not to agree to any roles until the custody issue was settled.

In 1998, he got married to actress Rachel Miner only to separate two years later. But in 2000, he returned to acting and began dating Mila Kunis in 2002. He lived in New York, and she lived in LA, and apparently, it was difficult to maintain a long-distance relationship. The couple split in 2011, with Culkin and Kunis remaining friends. At the moment, Culkin is in a relationship with actress Brenda Song and working on various film projects.

Daniel Jacob Stern

The role of a famous burglar Marv Merchants has been a breakthrough for Daniel Stern. But his professional career didn’t end with Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost In New York. He was the voice of Adult Kevin Arnold on the TV series The Wonder Years. He also directed several episodes of this show and the feature film Rookie of the Year (1993). He was a star of the CBS television show Danny, which was created and written by him.

Being also an artist and sculptor, he specializes in bronze and creates public art projects in Pasadena, Palm Desert, San Diego, and Temple City. His son, Henry Stern, has become California State Senator.

Joseph Pesci

Another Home Alone’s villain, Harry Lime, has made actor Joe Pesci well recognized all over the world. He played some other tough characters such as Vincent Gambini in 1992 film My Cousin Vinny, followed by co-starring with Robert De Niro in the Martin Scorsese movies Raging Bull (1980), Goodfellas (1990), and Casino (1995).

For his class acting in Raging Bull, he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Pesci won this award later for the part of the psychopathic mobster Tommy DeVito in Goodfellas.

In 1999, he decided to retire from acting and has appeared only in a couple of movies. The actor got married and then divorced three times. The last marriage with model and actress Claudia Haro brought him a daughter named Tiffany. Pesci got engaged to Angie Everhart in 2007, but they split up just a year later.
