Yesterday, the members of the royal families took part in the Holocaust Memorial Day to mark the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Holocaust was a devastating period in history at the time of World War II, during which millions of Jews, gypsies, and disabled people, were murdered by Adolf Hitler’s people. Therefore, people commemorate those who have died and honor those who have survived all around the globe.

Kate Middleton’s news

Kate Middleton and Prince William visited the Memorial Day in Lonon, which took place in Westminster Abbey on January 27. The couple tried to put a brave face and hold their emotions while arriving at such a poignant event.

The Duchess of Cambridge made a very stylish yet modest appearance: she decided to re-wear all her clothes not to attract much attention to her outfit. She sported a Catherine Walker grey dress with a wide black belt and black collar and a pair of her beloved mumps.

We also loved how Duchess Catherine pull out her princess-like hairstyle, which framed her face ideally and revealed her favorite earrings by British designer Cassandra Goad, retailing for $5,675.

Times Kate Middleton wore the same garments:

  • On March 19, 2019, Queen Elizabeth II and Duchess Catherine made a joint appearance at King’s College to open new educational facilities officially. Only then, the mum-of-three paired her grey coat dress with a black fascinator and a matching clutch box.

The Holocaust Memorial Day service

Kate Middleton and Prince William admitted they had told their kids about the Holocaust ahead of their royal engagement on Monday. While the 38-year-old was talking to survivor Mala Tribich, she confessed:

We were talking to the children about it earlier today. But we have to be, you know, for a 6-year-old … the interpretation [to choose words carefully].

The couple was also having a conversation with another survivor, Manfred Goldberg, who recalled meeting Duchess Catherine back in 2017 upon her visit to the Stutthof concentration camp in Poland.

I recall Princess Kate telling me that once they had decided to visit the camp, they had done a lot of Holocaust-related reading, but she said, ‘Nevertheless, we were not prepared for what we saw and what we heard from you two.’

He added at the poignant ceremony:

Although it had been sanitized, it was still, for innocents like they were, a fairly traumatic experience. Princess Kate wiped her eyes several times. Having the royal couple participating today gave it an impact and made it very special.

It’s not possible to be prepared for such meetings, heartbreaking stories, and all the emotions. However, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made the right choice to start telling their kids about the Holocaust. Thanks to our parents, we are also aware of it, the World Wars, and some other horrible events. We are standing by those who have suffered and survived these diabolic years of torture and fear.
