This Rescued Dog Can Fall Asleep Only In A Cosy Box And Teaches To Help Other Traumatized Animals
Meet Captain, a 2-year-old pit bull mix from Detroit, Michigan. The photo of Captain sleeping in a tiny cardboard box went viral on media. If you haven’t seen it yet, we’ll add it at the end of the post.
Detroit Dog Rescue became a temporary home for Captain. The shelter workers rescued the dog from the streets of the city. And while he may look just like any other pit bull to you, there is something special about this dog.
The thing is, Captain adores cardboard boxes. Moreover, letting him settle in a box is the only way this dog will fall asleep feeling safe. It looks like in his past, when he was living on the streets, hiding inside, one of these boxes was the only way Captain could protect himself from the weather or other threats.
So, even though Captain is safe now, this habit of his didn’t go anywhere. Every night, the shelter workers have to look for a suitable cardboard box for him to sleep in. And as we can see from the photo below, not always these boxes fit the dog perfectly. However, it doesn’t seem to bother Captain that much.
Plus, that adorable photo of Captain trying to get comfortable in the box served one more great purpose. It helped activists raise awareness about the importance of helping rescue dogs finding their forever homes despite their past.
So, here is the famous photo of Captain and his unusual bed place, accompanied by a few words from Kristina Rinaldi, the Executive Director of the shelter.
Share this touching story with your friends and loved ones. Who knows, maybe with your help, one more rescue dog will find their safe and warm forever home, where there will always be enough food, toys, and cardboard boxes.
