The Chronicles Of Andy Williams' Complicated Relationship With Ex-Wife Claudine Longet
Before the death of Andy Williams in April 2015, the king of the crooners had significant moments in his career you might have no idea about.

- Williams was renowned for his ‘Moon River’ signature song;
- He was blessed with 18 Gold Albums & 3 Platinum Albums throughout his lifetime;
- The singer was the host of the Grammys from 1971 to 1977;
- He also hosted The Andy Williams Show from 1962 to 1971;
- Williams died of cancer at the age of 84, and the legendary singer;
- He was close friends with the Kennedys, Ethel, and Robert.

However, what many do not know is that his marriage to Claudine Longet wasn’t all love and light.
Scandals surrounding Williams’ marriage
A year later after Williams met Claudine Longet in 1960, the pair got married.
They were close pals with the likes of astronaut John Glenn, singer Barbra Streisand, and Senator Bobby Kennedy and his wife, Ethel.

It was a sad day the day Bobby got murdered. Williams was present that day, in June 1968. He also sang ‘The Battle Hymn of the Republic’ at RFK’s burial ceremony.
Nevertheless, he remained friends with Ethel, even escorting her to events in the 1970s.
Rumor suggests that Williams’ close relationship with Ethel was likely the crux of his divorce with Claudine in 1975.

However, Williams insisted that he had only ever been mere friends with Ethel.
Claudine, on the other hand, was having an affair with champion skier and medalist, Spider Sabich.
The pair enjoyed raving parties and living wild until Claudine shot him while they were in a chalet.

Spider died in the ambulance before they could reach a hospital. During her trial in court, Williams testified on her behalf.
He argued that he never called Claudine a ‘crazy chick,’ even when the prosecutor’s witnesses Mr. and Mrs. Peter Green swore that the singer told them:
"Claudine is a crazy chick. She likes to drive too fast, she skis too fast, she takes chances."

After much deliberation and investigation, she was found guilty of criminal negligence only and was sentenced to thirty days in prison.
‘Let It Be Me’
Although Williams and Claudine had a roller-coaster relationship, it didn’t stop them from having an incredible music career together.
The former showbiz couple released a lovely song together titled, ‘Let It Be Me,’ before Williams’ demise.
Even the most glamorous relationships have their tough times.
