The color purple has always been synonymous with royalty and elegance. So it’s no wonder it’s a favorite for the women in the British royal family.

Purple can be a very trendy and flattering color, plus there are several shades to choose from. And fans are loving the way these royal women wore theirs.

Meghan Markle’s purple dress versus Kate’s and Diana’s

The Duchess of Sussex was at the One Young World Summit opening ceremony in London and for this event, she chose a long-sleeve purple flowing dress reportedly from Aritzia.

She teamed up the bright look with a navy-colored pair of pumps. Her hair fell in loose waves and she appeared to be in great spirits.

Meghan’s outfit looked very similar in color to one Kate Middleton wore in 2011 when she was on a royal tour of Canada with husband Prince William.

She had on a glamorous purple dress for an evening event but unlike Meghan, Kate wore a pair of black stilettos. The Duchess of Cambridge’s hair was pulled back in a loose bun behind her hair.

It’s possible that these Duchesses took their cue for the late Princess Diana who has also been spotted in an iconic purple dress as well.

In an Instagram post, pictures of all three ladies dressed in purple were placed side by side for fans to determine who looked the best. And it was generally agreed that Lady D basically killed it.

How to wear purple

Of course, it isn’t just royal women that can rock purple like pros. You too can do the same by remembering a few tips.

According to Earthandmoondesign, you can wear purple to brighten up shades of gray, black or brown. The color purple can also be the theme of your accessories especially if the other colors and understated.

And finally, if you do wear an all-purple outfit, consider toning down the brightness with black or brown shoes and accessories.

Diana, Kate, and Meghan have proven that wearing purple can be the perfect way to have all eyes on you. Even though many of the votes were for Lady D, all three women looked gorgeous in their respective dresses. And with the right combo, you too can exude such beauty.
