The candy moment
Cameras captured Obama and Bush in a charming exchange during former senator Joe Lieberman’s eulogy at the funeral of McCain who passed away after battling brain cancer.
Bush was seen collecting a mint from his wife, former First Lady, Laura Bush, and then passing it to Michelle Obama who mouthed "thank you." Check out a clip of the moment below.

George Bush and Michelle Obama have a very unlikely friendship and this move just proves how fond of each other they are.
Now we learn the truth
In an exclusive interview with TODAY, Michelle Obama recently explained what really happened in that viral moment.
President Bush and I, we are forever seatmates because of protocol, and that’s how we sit at all the official functions. He’s my partner in crime at every major thing where all the ‘formers’ gather. So we’re together all the time.
“I didn’t realize at the time that anybody noticed what we were doing… He is my partner in crime at every major thing where all the formers gather… I love him to death.” @MichelleObama talks about George W. The former FLOTUS described Bush as a funny, wonderful man, adding that she never expected for that whole thing to make it to news headlines. She said that George W Bush was getting a cough drop from his wife when Obama looked over and asked Bush to "hand me a cough drop" as well.
I will add, they were old cough drops. I said, ‘How long have you had these things?’ He said, ‘A long time; we’ve got a lot of these.’

Way to make a totally adorable moment even more awesome.
The internet reacts
Now that people know what exactly went on, they have taken to social media to express their approval, citing this as the type of love and unity that the country needs today.
Great clip! Thank you @MichelleObama and @43georgebush for being “the adults” and leading the way. Decency, recognizing sameness… we need more of it.
