An example is the iconic duo, Tim Reid and Daphne Maxwell.
Tim Reid is a veteran television star who has featured in several American television shows including, ‘Sister Sister,’ ‘That 70’s Show,’ ‘Frank’s Place,’ and many others.
Daphne, on the other hand, is famous for her role as Vivian Banks in the 90’s sitcom ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.’
Despite their successful careers, Tim and Daphne have managed to weather the storm Hollywood has thrown at them and preserve their marriage for more than three decades.
An enduring love story
Daphne and Tim first crossed paths on the set of a commercial in Chicago. Tim asked her on a date, but Daphne wasn’t impressed, so she declined.
Ten years after that, they met on the set of ‘Frank’s Place,’ and they knew they had to be together. They went on a first date and began courting until they tied the knot in December 1982.
Their relationship was filled with ups and downs as they broke up several times while they were dating. During one of their low times, Tim broke up with Daphne and traveled to Spain to shoot a movie.
Because they were always fighting and making up, Daphne paid it no mind and allowed him to go with the hopes of him returning. When he came back, he was surprised when he saw Daphne at the airport waiting for him.
He was so touched by her selfless gesture that when he was clearing customs, he got down on one knee and popped the big question.
While speaking on the secret of their long marriage, Tim explained that it has a lot to do with self-evaluation and self-respect. He said:
“If you want to find someone of a certain type or a certain caliber, you have to first have those qualities in yourself. You have to be the person you want to attract. There is someone for everyone.”
They have no children together
Although they have been together for almost 40 years, Tim and Daphne have no children together.
Daphne has a son from her previous relationship, while Tim has two children from his previous marriage. Nevertheless, they both play active roles in parenting each other’s kids.
It is beautiful that Tim and Daphne managed to keep the fire of their love burning after three long decades. Their story is proof that true love still exists.
