Barbara Bain and Martin Landau were iconic names in the world of television and movies. Is it a surprise that their children also caught the entertainment bug?

Finding each other and falling in love

It wasn’t love at first sight for this talented couple. Barbara, who was a model at the time, met Martin where he was teaching acting. Initially, he concluded that "she was an empty-headed model" while Barbara judged him as being "arrogant" and "stupid."

As they shared their story during a joint interview with People Magazine, the couple revealed that their first impression about each other changed a few weeks later when they ran into each other again at a party. They eventually had a city hall wedding ceremony. Barbara told the outlet:

The couple went on to have a marriage that lasted decades. They tied the knot in 1957 but ended up getting a divorce in 1993. Speaking to TheDailyBeast, Martin described this as "a natural end."

Their daughters are all-grown-up

Barbara and Martin’s marriage might not have stood the test of time, but they did have two beautiful daughters, Susan and Juliet, from this union.

Both ladies are all-grown-up now and have found their place in showbusiness.

Based on her website, Juliet Landau is an actress, writer, and producer. Fans may recognize her for her part as Drusilla on the hit series Buffy The Vampire Slayer and also Loretta King on Ed Wood. These days, she can be seen in the fifth season of Amazon’s Bosch, where she plays a court reporter named Rita Tedesco.

Juliet made a directorial debut with the docu-film A Place Among the Dead. She revealed to Meaww in an interview that she made this production "searingly personal," as she wanted viewers to get a sense of her life and that of her parents.

Speaking to JewishJournal, Juliet revealed that acting wasn’t initially in the plans for her and her sister. It was "off-limits" to them while growing up because their parents wanted to protect them from the tough side of showbiz.

However, after many years as a ballerina, she began to explore the world of acting which turned out to be a perfect fit.

Susan stays busy as well, but not necessarily in front of the camera. According to her bio, she’s a producer, writer, and director like her sister. She has had experiences in film and theater production and continues to follow that path.

On growing up with their parents

Both Juliet and Susan have shared what it was like to grow up with such famous parents.

• Susan once told People that her dad would often tell her and her sister some "amazing bedtime stories," and he incorporated "funny voices."
• Juliet revealed that one aspect of growing up with famous parents was her assumption that everybody’s parents were famous too. It seemed so normal to her as even their neighbors at the time were celebrities.
• Susan learned a lot from her now-late father. One of the things he taught her was to be in the moment; "relax and not to worry.” Growing up, she came to understand and appreciate what that truly meant.

One really does have a different life experience when they grow up famous. A major upside is that, in many cases, children tend to be inspired by their parents’ careers. And when it appears that the young one inherited their folks’ talents too, then it’s only a matter of time before they follow their mom and dad’s paths. In the case of Martin Landau’s daughters, each one of them found her own area of expertise. They embraced the opportunities they had and have turned into successful and powerful women.
