The show gave Jada an opportunity to talk about something she’s been asked a lot about.

Brutal reality of losing hair

In one of the Red Table Talk episodes, Jada, Williow, and Adrienne candidly talked about their insecurities.

Jada started by addressing her wearing turbans, which is something people ask her about all the time. The truth is simple: Pinkett Smith is losing her hair.

It was terrifying when it first started. I was in the shower one day and had just handfuls of hair in my hands and I was just like, ‘Oh my god, am I going bald?’ I was literally shaking in fear.

That’s when Jada started to cut her hair. This experience terrified and unsettled her. She revealed hair had always been her huge trademark. She used to take care of it and be proud of her luscious locks. But now, it was disappearing from her.

At that point, Pinkett Smith said she took a step back and put the situation in the spiritual perspective.

The higher power takes so much from people. People are out here with cancer. People have sick children. I watch the higher power take things every day.

The 46-year-old actress realized that if the worst she can lose is her hair, then it’s not the end of the world. She wouldn’t give anything else just to keep her hair.

Now, Jada is into her turban look and says it makes her look like a queen.

Daughter’s insecurities

In the same episode, Jada’s daughter Willow brought up her insecurity with not having curves. She said it’s difficult to look at modern girls who are all about their beautiful strong bodies, which made her feel unattractive.

Willow revealed that her father, Will Smith, said that it’s her blessing. He said boys will look at her brains first, and she shouldn’t worry about it because she’s beautiful as she is.

We can learn a lot from these women about accepting and conquering our insecurities. Way to go, ladies!
