“I Always Questioned Why On Earth She Wanted All Of This Food,” Princess Diana's Chef Unlocks Her Secret Illness
When you are a royal, people know about you only what you allow them to see and probably some bits of what secret sources might reveal. And such secret sources, as a rule, come from the personnel that surrounds a royal person. Ken Wharfe was the one for Lady Diana. He was hired as a protection officer for Prince William. Later, he became a bodyguard of the princess herself.

That time he remembers as one of the best periods in his life. Ken says Diana was the best boss ever, and in addition to that she liked having fun. So working with the woman who changed the face of the British monarchy was a real treat.

Diana’s bodyguard isn’t the only person who can tell us a lot of interesting things about her life. Her former head chef, Darren McGrady, remembers a lot as well. He admits that Princess Diana used to have some health problems, and the reason for that was her bulimia. She requested all kinds of food, but who was he to question her wishes.

But you know the aiding and abetting the bulimia… I was making dishes for the Princess. I always questioned why on earth she wanted all of this food, any of this food, but there was nothing I could do. I was there as a chef, my job was to cook and to prepare food. I wasn’t a psychologist, or a doctor, who could say you shouldn’t be eating all of this. I knew something wasn’t right but I didn’t know or understand what bulimia was.

But one moment changed everything. The chef remembers the awful moment when he learned the horrible news – he just couldn’t believe it:
Seeing the flowers out the front getting higher and higher and seeing all the people. It was a horrible memory.

The palace became a dark place at once, and only tons of flowers were reminding of the beauty that once lived there.
