A lot of celebrities can go through unimaginable and indescribable transformations to fit into a role accordingly. We can see famous people train as professional boxers, lose 20 pounds or, on the contrary, gain 10 pounds, and many other drastic changes.
Actresses with shaved heads are no exception. While it is not common for females to cut all their gorgeous hair off, some A-list stars prefer to go beyond expectations and limits and be the best version of the main characters in the movies. Let’s see which high-profile actresses shaved their heads for a role!
Top 7 bald actresses
Charlize Theron
South African actress Charlize Theron shaved her golden hair for a role as Imperator Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road. She seemingly wanted to fit into the role of a strong-willed heroine and moralistic leader, and she did it well!
In 2015, Theron told Ryan Seacrest that "every woman should do it" — she highly recommends it. While going bald doesn’t suit everyone, we find Charlize pretty heroic and powerful with such a haircut.
Demi Moore
That was super iconic! Demi Moore shaved her head for an incredible role in the movie G.I. Jane back in 1997. In the script, her character, Jordan O’Neill, chopped off her hair to prove she’s gotten what it takes to become a Navy Seal.
Demi Moore’s willingness to forego her hair for the part shows equal levels of dedication, even though the movie got terrible reviews, and she was awarded the 1997 Razzie Award for Worst Actress in G.I. Jane.
Natalie Portman
In the 2006’s movie, V for Vendetta, Natalie Portman got a role as Evey Hammond, a young British female, who becomes embroiled in the mission of masked vigilantes. The actress boldly shaved her head completely to play her character ideally.
In addition to shaving her head, Natalie Portman undertook voice coaching with dialectologist Barbara Berkery to make a perfect British accent for the role. What dedication!

Cate Blanchett
Just like the aforementioned celebs, Cate Blanchett shaved her head for the romantic thriller, Heaven. Set in Italy, the actress had a role as an English teacher who takes on the leader of an Italian drug cartel after her husband and several of her students die from drug overdoses. Shaving her head wasn’t the first time for Blanchett. She once told Daily Telegraph:
Shaving off my hair is so liberating. I had to do it once for a film role, but I’ve done it periodically too.

Tilda Swinton
Another bald actress! And by bald, we mean that Tilda Swinton completely shaved her hair for the role of the Ancient One, a superpowered spiritual being, in the Marvel Universe’s movie, Doctor Strange.
In the graphic novels, the Ancient One is actually a bald man. Tilda Swinton’s decision to shave her head was to help her in performing the role in an androgynous manner. So, the high-profile actress was partly responsible for the character’s distinctive look.
