Like most successful women, Angela Lansbury had to choose between her family and career. For many long years, the actress put career over her kids. But everything changed at some point when Angela had to make the most important decision in her life.

Fans worldwide love and admire Lansbury for her iconic roles in Murder, She Wrote, The Harvey Girls, and The Picture of Dorian Gray. The award-winning actress gave her voice to Mrs. Potts in the 1991 Disney animated film Beauty and the Beast.

Angela was married twice. Her first marriage failed after one year. With her second husband, Peter Shaw, Lansbury remained for 54 years until his demise in 2003.

Angela and Peter have two kids together and Peter’s son from his first marriage. In one of her candid interviews, Lansbury revealed her biggest regret in life. When she had to choose between her kids and her career, she would put them second.
She said:
As soon as I had the babies I went on a diet and I was back in business. I regret that. You have to be with your children.

Angela’s stepson talks about her most important decision
Angela wasn’t so close with her kids Anthony and Deidre when they grew up. But when she found out about their drug addiction, the actress understood she had to change her priorities.

Angela moved her family from Malibu to rural Ireland, where she simply kept the house and devoted all her time to her children.
In a rare interview with Closer Weekly, Angela’s stepson, David, opened up about his relationship with the famous stepmom for the first time.
David said Angela always treated him like her own child. He never felt any difference between his siblings and himself.

David has only the warmest words to say about his stepmom and feels grateful for everything she did for him.
He added:
She’s a great lady. I came in and she didn’t have to have me. It was an incredible thing to do. She always put family first.

It’s quite rare to hear about such a unique bond between a boy and his stepmom. Maybe, Angela Lansbury wasn’t so perfect mother for her own children at first, but she learned her mistakes and could get all her family back together.
