Barbara Walters Names Amal Clooney 'The Most Fascinating Woman' Because She Married A-List Actor George Clooney
In the past, the seasoned TV host Barbara Walters has named folks like Hillary Clinton, Steve Jobs, and Mother Teresa, but in 2014, she was fascinated by the Amal Clooney largely for being the woman who snagged a ring from Hollywood’s hottest bachelor.

In a heartfelt romance ripped from the pages of the greatest love story of all time, Amal and George met in Italy when she was 36, and he was 53.

He was the one who fell head-over-heels. They went public with their romance in late 2013; the couple was first spotted together in London, then vacationing in Mexico, and soon after at a White House screening of Clooney’s film The Monuments Men.

Six months after coming out as a couple, Clooney’s intimate proposal at his LA residence went off with just a few hitches.
I plotted the whole thing out. I had the ring hidden… I had music playing — my Aunt Rosemary’s [song] ‘Why Shouldn’t I?’ I’ve cooked dinner. And she comes in and she’s just come back from London. And… she’s like maybe we’ll just order in and I go, ‘No, no, no, I’ve made dinner’. I’ve got it all set up, timed out, and the song is coming and she gets up to go wash the dishes, which she’s never done. And I’m like, ‘What are you doing?’ and she comes back in. And finally I said, ‘I blew out the candle and I said I think the lighter’s in the box behind you’. And she… pulls [the ring] out, and she looks at it, and she’s like, ‘It’s a ring’, like as if somebody had left it there some other time.
Amal has become one of the most fascinating women in the world
Clooney is a successful attorney, who was born in Lebanon and raised just outside of London. She studied law at both Oxford University and New York University School of Law, and now specializes in international law, human rights, extradition, and criminal law for the firm Doughty Street Chambers, in London.

She has been representing WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in his fight against extradition from Sweden since 2011.

Despite the fact that Amal had previously been appointed to a number of UN commissions, advises the likes of former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan, and was recently tasked with advising Greece on winning back the Parthenon Marbles from the British Museum in London, it’s her marriage to the actor who said he’d never marry again that Walters seemed to find most fascinating.

Blossoming family life

The former mayor of Rome Walter Veltroni officiated the ceremony. Since they got married, the duo have launched a charity foundation, The Clooney Foundation for Justice. Amal gave birth to a healthy baby boy, Alexander, and girl, Ella, on the morning of June 6, 2017.
Since giving birth to her twins, Amal Clooney has been tipped to enter the House of Lords by her legal mentor. Baroness Helena Kennedy, who works with Mrs. Clooney, said her colleague would make an outstanding member of the upper house.

So what can we expect next from Amal? It’s safe to say, no matter what, it will be fabulous. She continues to work non-stop, and we have no doubt there will be more speeches and meetings to come in the next few months.
