Miracles really can happen in real life, all we need is to believe in them. A cute little girl, Lynlee Boemer, is a medical miracle because she was actually born twice.

Margaret Boemer first sensed something was wrong with her unborn baby when her doctor stayed unusually quiet during a routine ultrasound test. The woman was 16 weeks pregnant when doctors discovered a tumor in the tailbone of her unborn child, known as a sacrococcygeal teratoma.

It is estimated these types of tumors occur in about one of 40,000 pregnancies. Margaret and her husband were totally crushed. The woman just couldn’t imagine all this was happening to her own baby. Only two weeks ago, they had learned the baby would be a girl and even picked up a beautiful name for her, Lynlee.

Doctors advised Boemer to terminate her pregnancy but specialists from Texas Children’s Fetal Center suggested a risky surgery. Margaret and her husband said they didn’t hesitate a minute to take this dangerous step:

Surgeons removed the embryo from the womb and carried out the five-hour operation before placing it back to the uterus. 12 weeks after the surgery, Lynlee has entered this world for the second time. When the baby was eight days old, surgeons removed the rest of the tumor from her tailbone.

Now, this little brave angel is doing well. Her parents have no doubt Lynlee will grow up a strong and healthy kid considering all difficulties she had to pass through despite her little age.

We are really happy for Lynlee and her parents. They faced a lot of difficulties but finally struggled them all. Their story shows that true miracles exist if you have faith.

It appears that ‘baby born twice’ cases are not the myth. Sacrococcygeal teratoma usually occurs in newborns. Its cause is still unknown, but in fact, the disease affects girls four times more often than boys. Statistics shows this kind of tumor occurs in 1 out of every 35,000 to 40,000 live births.
