Al Roker And Deborah Roberts Have The Most Beautiful Love Story

Al Roker is a famous face on television. He is a well-known author, a host, and weatherman on NBC’s Today show. Deborah Roberts is a famous face on television too, as she is a seasoned reporter for ABC News. Despite working for rival networks, off the set, the two are loving partners.

The couple met in 1990. Roker didn’t wait long to invite Roberts to lunch, but she didn’t think more of him than ‘just a nice guy’. They kept in touch for two years and met again when Roker and his wife split up.

Even though Roberts considered Roker as just a friend, he managed to win her heart. He proposed in 1994, on New Year’s Day, and the couple got married next year in St. Thomas Episcopal Church in New York.

Roberts became a stepmother to Roker’s daughter, Courtney. There were moments when the two were ‘dueling girls’ but with time they both matured and their relationship got a lot better than it was.

Roker and Roberts had their first child, daughter Leila, in 1998 via vitro fertilization. At that time, Roberts was offered her dream job, a newsperson on Good Morning America, but she turned it down to care for her newborn baby. In one of her interviews she said:
I will admit that deep down in my heart of hearts I have felt at times that I have sacrificed more but I think also he’s also listened to me, too, and tried to feel a little bit of my pain.
2002 was an exciting year in many ways for the couple. Roker had gastric bypass surgery, which made him lose 160 pounds, and the couple had their second child, son Nick, who has special needs.
Nowadays, Leila is 19, Nick is 15, and Courtney is 30. Roberts and Roker credit their strong marriage, especially as they blended two families, to couple’s therapy.
Despite their jobs and many hurdles in life they had to go through, the couple’s relationship is still full of love, respect, and support.
