Most of us know him as Darrin Stephens’ strict boss but in real life, White suffered an awful tragedy. His famous character had a son, Jonathan, named after the actor’s real son, who passed away in awful circumstances.
Terrible Loss
David White was married twice in his life. His first wife was a stage actress Mary Welch, who lost her life after complications from her second pregnancy. The couple had one son together, Jonathan.

Sadly, he passed away when he was just 33 years old in the plane bombing. Jonathan was on Pan Am flight 103 traveling from Frankfurt to Detroit. The plane was flying over Scotland when it was hit by a bomb.
The horrible incident took the lives of everyone who was on the board. Not even one person among 243 passengers and 16 crew members survived.
Even though David married again and had another child, daughter Alexandra, he always had a giant hole in his heart.
