What is PDA?

We usually use an acronym PDA (also known as public display of attention) when we want to describe any form of physical contact between partners in the view of others. PDA includes almost everything from holding hands and cuddling to kissing.

When it comes to PDAs, we usually associate them with new lovers who just can’t take their eyes off each other. But what does happen when we see PDAs in a long-term relationship? Sometimes it looks …like something inappropriate, doesn’t it? However, we should welcome PDAs, as they are not only sweet but also meaningful.

Obviously some people like PDAs more than others, but it is a common practice. When couples physically connect in the view of others, they strengthen their commitment as they show their feelings to the whole world. Their actions mean not only “ you are attractive and I want you right here" but also reveal, “you are my special one and I choose you and only you.” That’s a wonderful statement, that can really enrich the relationship.

Linking arms is more common for couples in long-term relationships. It’s comfortable and socially acceptable, even friends can adopt this gesture without raising eyebrows. It’s a common pose but also a demonstration of unity, revealing your strength as a couple.

Walking with your hand in your partner’s pocket looks so sweet and it indicates a relaxed relationship dynamic.
