Princess Anne rarely gives interviews and talks about her royal family. But when she does, it’s always heartwarming. Recently, the 67-year-old has been speaking to George Alagiah for the BBC program, The Queen: Her Commonwealth Story. And she couldn’t help but praise her mother.

Anne admires the monarch for her experience and the respect that allowed people to talk about things that they would not normally discuss with women. For a very long time, Elizabeth II has been an ‘honorary man’. And her ability to talk and listen to leaders from all over the world is "virtually unique."

The princess also remembers not seeing her parents often when she was a child. The Queen’s father died early, so she didn’t have an opportunity to spend more time with her kids because of all the visits and tours. But that’s what Charles and Anne expected. After all, being a royal means a lot of traveling.

In 1970s, Elizabeth II introduced walkabouts to bring back the sparkle to royal visits. And now, Anne reveals that she genuinely hated such visits. As she says, laughing:

Surprisingly, while she hated walkabouts when she was a teenager, the Queen’s daughter is now the busiest and most hard-working member of the family. In 2017 alone, Anne undertook 455 domestic engagements and 85 engagements abroad! These usually include opening ceremonies, official visits, charity events, and many more.
