Remember that time when Olivia Benson had a partner? She worked side by side with Elliot Stabler for over 12 years until he was written off the show. But what happened to him?
Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson were a great team but Stabler was known for his overly-emotional and sometimes even aggressive side. He didn’t actually die as many people would suggest, he just retired, which means that he can come back.
Fans demand Elliot Stabler’s return

Will Stabler actually come back?
Hold on to your chair, we might actually witness the triumphant return of detective Elliot Stabler someday. Because he wasn’t killed, that gives the show’s writers a brilliant opportunity to finally answer to the fans’ prayers and get Meloni’s character back on the show.
SVU’s producer Warren Leight lit up the candle of hope as he revealed to TVLine last year that it’s possible that Stabler comes back.
He said:
Look: I assume that if some year, some decade, couple decades from now, we get to the last SVU, [Meloni] would have to come back before we do the last episode or before the show signs off.
But don’t rush to put Meloni’s poster back on your wall as you might have to wait for quite some time. Leight added:
However, I don’t think we’re at that point in the show’s run.
Mariska Hargitay’s opinion
Mariska Hargitay, who continues to play Olivia Benson, shared her own opinion on the matter. She was asked about Elliot Stabler’s return in a last year’s interview and she said that she ‘doesn’t know’ but cheekily added that ‘it would be fun to have ‘one last hurrah.’’
