This person, if he may be called so, with a medical degree known as Dr. Lawrence Gerard Nassar has been sentenced to more than 100 years in prison for various sexual crimes on minors.

He is the main figure in one of the biggest sex abuse scandals in sports history. His multiple sentences include 60 years for child pornography charges, 40 to 175 years, and the most recent one – 40 to 125 years for numerous sexual assaults.

The victims were mostly girls. So far, there’ve been 265 public statements from those who received medical care from the USA gymnastics national team member and osteopathic doctor at Michigan State University.

Dr. Nassar finally admitted having sexually abused his patients under the pretext of carrying out legitimate medical treatment or therapy at his Michigan State University office, his home, and a gymnasium, even in the presence of the parents.

There are Olympic gold medalists among the athletes who filed against the doctor: Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, McKayla Maroney, and Aly Raisman. Another victim, Kyle Stephens, said during the trial:

I testified to let the world know that you are a repulsive liar and those ‘treatments’ were pathetically veiled sexual abuse.

Facing these accusations Dr. Nassar, 54, only bowed his head and looked away.

Kyle went on to say that Dr. Nassar had abused her since she was only 6 years old, and the ordeal continued for six more years.

Perhaps you have figured it out by now, but little girls don’t stay little forever. They grow into strong women that return to destroy your world.

Another woman who had the courage to testify, but on behalf of her daughter Chelsey, was Donna Markham. The woman confessed that her 23-year-old daughter committed suicide in 2009 after Dr. Nassar sexually abused her:

It all started with him.

As the hearing proceeded, Jessica Thomashaw, 17, confessed:

He touched the most innocent places on my body. I couldn’t be just a normal girl anymore, and I forever lost a big piece of my childhood due to his abuse.

After these and other statements, Ingham County Circuit Judge, Rosemarie Aquilina consoled the girls by telling them that it wasn’t their fault and apologized for failing them, as it was their duty to protect them.

Stories like this need to be public to never repeat again and remind us that justice, sooner or later, will be served.
