Ivanka Trump Encourages #MeToo Movement For The First Time After Defending Her Father

Ivanka Trump seems to be failing lately at giving comments about social issues. She has created a wave of negativity following her words concerning her father’s sexual allegations. Now, she created another backlash after speaking about the "MeToo" movement.

During her trip to the Olympic Games, the president’s daughter had an interview with NBC News where correspondent Peter Alexander touched a subject of the recent allegations of sexual misconduct against public figures and how her father, President Trump, responded to them.

Alexander asked Ivanka how she would respond to people who say that her father’s empathies lie with the accused. The White House adviser and first daughter answered by rejecting the idea that her father supports them.

I don’t think that is true. I think that when there are cases of domestic violence, as we saw recently, that cannot be condoned, nobody would condone that. And I think there is a vast spectrum.

She also made comments on the "MeToo" movement, though she didn’t mention its name.

The "MeToo" movement became viral as a hashtag used on social media to help demonstrate the extensive prevalence of sexual assault and harassment against women, especially at the workplace. It started in 2017 after the public allegations of sexual misconduct against an American film producer Harvey Weinstein

Ivanka cheered the women, who have stood up and drawn attention to the problem:

I actually think this is a really exciting and important moment in time. And I think many people are being exposed for doing some really awful things. And I am proud of the women who are standing up in the face of accusers with credible evidence and credible stories, and we’ve seen a lot of those, a lot of them recently.

It seems that her words don’t apply to the women who have accused her father of sexual misconduct. No less than 16 women have made allegations against the president. Many of them said that he made unwanted sexual advances at them or groped them, but Donald Trump denied everything.

Ivanka responded to the questions about her father’s sexual allegations by saying that she believes him. While baking up your father is understandable, we are wondering if she really thinks he’s innocent.
