The Naked Gun star Leslie Nielsen enjoyed a successful 60-year career in the TV and movie industries. The beloved actor passed away in 2010 of complications from pneumonia when he was 84 years old. Not many know this but when Leslie Nielsen was young, he started losing his hearing.

Nielson was hearing impaired – a condition that could have made his dream of becoming an actor totally impossible. However, he found a way to manage it by avoiding loud noises and wearing hearing aids.

Leslie admitted that hearing loss impacted his career. He said:
You know it’s very difficult to be an actor, and to have people depending on you to say the right line, at the right time, and to not be able to hear your cues! I can’t tell you how many times I would’ve had to have said What? if I didn’t have my hearing aids.
Nielson was not the only actor with this problem. Jodie Foster was photographed wearing hearing aids numerous times and talked about her hearing loss in an interview with Chicago Tribune.

Actor William Shatner suffers from tinnitus, which characterizes by ringing in the ears. When he was filming a Starr Trek episode, he stood too close to a special effects explosion which resulted in tinnitus.
