Their daughter Hannah was once a cheerleader, a Sunday school student, and a loving kid. Now, she is a car-stealing criminal who also has a record for possession of drugs and resisting arrest.
It’s no wonder desperate family decided to turn to the help of Dr. Phil!

While on the show, the story took an unexpected twist when 21-year-old Hannah blamed her parents for all the problems in her life. According to her, they threw her out when she was 16. She also added:
If I was to give my mom a letter grade for being a parent, I would give her a D+.

Meanwhile, Hannah’s sister took their parents’ side, saying that the 21-year-old was just lost and thought that by getting to jail, she looked cool:
I don’t know if she wants to change. In my eyes, she’s a wanna-be ‘ghetto’ girl. She’s going to push this ghetto lifestyle too far and she’s gonna to make the wrong person angry and she’s gonna end up dead.

So, what did Dr. Phil suggest?
He advised Hannah’s parents to change the manner in which they interact with their daughter. The young woman is used to getting into a fight with anyone. So, instead of responding to her anger, clashing with her, and criticizing her, Jacquelyn and Jody should ask Hannah how they can all help her to achieve what she wants.
