On Monday June 18, Zara Tindall, granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II, gave birth to a baby girl. She joins the line of royal births that have taken place this year, her older cousin, Prince Louis, was born to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge only recently.

And she is breaking records already, weighing in at 9lb 3oz, she takes the title of heaviest royal baby in recent times from Savannah Phillips born at 8lb 8oz in 2010.

As a tribute to her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, the baby was named Lena Elizabeth. The new baby is 19th in line to the throne of England. Unlike her older cousins, the new child does not have a title and is simply referred to by her name, Lena Elizabeth Tindall. Her older sister is 4-year-old Mia Tindall.

In a letter from Buckingham Palace announcing the birth of the baby, the new mother was referred to as “Mrs. Michael Tindall”. And many Britons have taken offence with what has been considered sexism.

Seeing as Zara Tindall is married to former rugby player Michael Tindall, she does not necessarily fall within the strict rules for addressing royals, they expected the palace to address her by her first name. Apparently, they thought otherwise.

Zara’s parents are Princess Anne and her husband Mark Phillips. It is said that Princess Anne saw no need of her daughter to have a royal title, and now, the same applies to the new baby.

She may not have a title, but the new baby will be getting her fair share of attention sharing the same name with her great-grandmother.
