Upbringing is a very controversial topic. Some prefer natural parenting, raising children the same way as before many benefits of civilization appeared. Others follow in the footsteps of their moms and dads. Still, others practice a modern approach. But even in the newest trends, parents make mistakes. We have prepared for you 7 reasons, why modern upbringing doesn’t cater to the needs of society.

1. There is no “community of adults”

There is no “community of adults” anymore sharing the same principles in upbringing. No one dares to tell children when they are wrong. If a teacher screams at a child, the parents will kick up a row. But because of it moms and dads are left with the consequences of their own methods.

Imagine a situation: a three-year-old sits on the ground and starts screaming. A mother with three bags and a bicycle in her hands politely asks her child to stand up and follow her. The child continues to cry. Everybody who sees this scene tries to pass by faster. The woman squats and continues her attempts to convince the little individual to calm down, but it makes things worse – the kid gets blue in the face from hysterics. The mother is powerless… But instead of receiving support from fellow adults, she only catches side-looks of disapproval or indifference.

2. Children are allowed too much

More and more parents take bad behavior as the norm. “She’s only a child!” or “He’s playing!” – a mother reacts to the fact that her child has drowned a kitten in a puddle or threw sand into another baby’s eyes. This way adults relieve themselves of responsibility for raising their own children.

Actually, children understand everything and pick up much faster than we think. So manners and rules of social behavior need to be cultivated early on.

3. Modern parents don’t teach patience

To avoid any kind of annoyance, parents are prepared for every occasion. No sooner has the baby started whimpering, than it receives a cookie; once the baby is in the car – turn on its favorite song; parents take the baby to a café – let the baby watch cartoons on a tablet. Conveniently? Yes! But because parents overindulge the child with the smallest sign of discontent, the child doesn’t learn to think about others and behave.

4. Adults spoil their children

The life of a modern child is scheduled to the hour: school, tutoring, sports. Parents are worried that they give their child too little time. Therefore, when the child asks for something, the requests are satisfied too quickly. In this way, adults “compensate” the children for their efforts, as if they are doing all of it only for parent’s sake. Kids feel it and the requests grow…

5. Parents neglect their own needs

The child is in the center of the family. But don’t forget about your relationship. Children should know that their parents are independent people with wishes of their own. It will help them in the future to build communication with other people.

6. Excessive control

Did your parents know what you were doing all day? And now, who is ready to remain clueless as to the whereabouts of their child until the evening? A typical situation: “Did you put on a hat? Show me in a selfie." Children are now growing under permanent control and it will take longer for them to become independent.

7. Parents prepare their child for the day-before-yesterday’s world

Modern parents dream for their children to grow up to be YouTube-bloggers and stylists. They raise children in today’s world. But for the kids, it will be the day before yesterday when they grow up. Therefore, don’t pressure the child to decide on the future occupation from the first grade. It used to be OK in the good old days, but, admit it, you have no idea what the future world is going to be like.

These tips about modern upbringing are worth pondering over. Do you have anything to add? Share your opinion on Facebook.
