We want to tell you Ben Hanan’s story. This young man is a wedding and family photographer, and he sees the world through the lens of his camera. He is 27 years old, married, and now he is also a young father. The young couple from Minneapolis learned about pregnancy in May 2018, shortly after the wedding.

The newlyweds were happy and looked forward to welcoming their firstborn and starting a new chapter in their wonderful life story. And that is when they received shocking news – Sarah, Ben’s 7-month pregnant wife, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of 2nd stage breast cancer. It happens to 1 in every 3,000 expectant mothers.

Doctors convinced the young people to start treatment immediately. It was a difficult decision because the tumor had increased from 0.98 to 1.73 inches in some 20 days. They had to act fast and come to terms with it. Her hair was falling out, she wouldn’t be able to breastfeed, and they had to spend all of the baby money on chemotherapy.

After the boy was born, Ben posted a moving photograph of Sarah with her newborn baby with a sweet caption.

Why is it possible to diagnose cancer during pregnancy?

  1. Nowadays, cancer is treatable and can be diagnosed during pregnancy, although this may cause some difficulties.
  2. The child may not inherit the disease and propensity for cancer later in life.
  3. Women who have been diagnosed with cancer can give birth.

Things you need to know about the way cancer is diagnosed during pregnancy and how harmful it is.

Symptoms of breast cancer often coincide with the state of a pregnant woman in the later stages: vomiting, headaches, lumps in the breasts, and rectal bleeding. Cervical cancer can be accurately diagnosed through HPV and Pap tests, as well as ultrasound.

Relatively safe ways of diagnosing this condition include:

X-ray. If desired, the mother’s belly is covered with a lead shroud to protect the fetus from the harmful rays.

Magnetic resonance therapy, ultrasound, and biopsy. These methods also won’t harm the pregnancy.
