The ABC his sitcom Modern Family has been gracing our TV screens for 10 long years. The mockumentary series began its run in 2009 and share the story of Jay Pritchett and his family, following their day to day lives.
The family includes Jay’s second wife, their son, and stepson, as well as Jay’s adult children from his first marriage and their spouses and kids. Modern Family is made in a mockumentary style, which is not something that we can often see on the television.
The series was warmly welcomed by the critics and received 22 Emmy awards and 75 nominations. It has been the ABC’s longest-running comedy show but, unfortunately, it couldn’t run forever.
Sad news for the show’s fans
The Pritchett family has made us laugh and cry in the duration of one short episode. It will be hard to find such a sweet and heart-warming show which is based on strong family values that sometimes can be lost in a modern society.
It has been announced that the TV series was renewed for the 11th season, but, sadly, it will be its last. ABC president Karey Burke stated:
So proud to announce that Modern Family is returning for its 11th and final season. Chris and Steve have created one of the most seminal and iconic comedies in television history. In its final season, there will be more milestone events that anyone who has been a fan of the series won’t want to miss.
The fans of the sitcom have been shocked to hear the news and took to Twitter to share their sadness.
Even though we are devastated to hear that we won’t see Modern Family after 2020, but we will definitely add it to our ‘binge-watch later’ collection.
