Prince Andrew quits royal duties

On Wednesday, Prince Andrew announced in statement that he would be quitting his official royal duties "for the foreseeable future." This came after the controversy surrounding Prince Andrew’s involvement with disgraced financier and convicted offender Jeffrey Epstein in the early 2000s.

The statement reads:

It has become clear to me over the last few days that the circumstances relating to my former association with Jeffrey Epstein has become a major disruption to my family’s work and the valuable work going on in the many organisations and charities that I am proud to support.

It was reported that the 59-year-old royal had asked his mother, Queen Elizabeth II for permission.

On Thursday, the Duchess of York arrived at the Buckingham Palace to support her ex-husband amid the latest scandal. The 60-year-old’s visit comes less than a day after the royal announced he was stepping down from official royal duties.

According to Daily Mail, Sarah was spotted arriving at the palace just before 4 pm smiling while she spoke to a police officer from the car in London.

She arrived about a few hours after the prince was seen in public for the first time after his decision to step down. Fergie has been very supportive of the father of her children following his interview where he addressed the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

Meanwhile after the interview aired, Sarah said she is "deeply supportive and proud of this giant of a principled man." The Duchess of York took to Instagram to praise her ex by sharing pictures of him in an Instagram post.

She described the father of her two daughters as a "true and real gentleman." Sarah wrote:

I am with him every step of the way and that is my honour. We have always walked tall and strong, he for me and me for him.
