Earlier these days, Robert De Niro attended the National Board of Review Awards in New York City. The real hit of the whole gala was a film The Post with Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks. The movie took Best Picture award.

De Niro presented Meryl Streep the Best Actress prize for her role of Katharine Graham, a publisher of the famous “The Washington Post.”

In his speech, De Niro openly expressed his opinion about the current president of the United States, Donald Trump. In fact, the actor used a lot of dirty words addressing them to Trump. Let’s just say he was really unsatisfied and even called the president the “baby-in-chief.”

The Oscar-winning actor has spoken out against Trump several times in the past. Talking about The Post, which is about dark secrets of the US government and secret papers of the Pentagon, De Niro made comparisons to Trump and his current presidential administration. He said:

Now we’re suffering from the real Donald Trump.

When Meryl Streep took to the stage to receive her award, she hugged Robert and took a moment to praise the men who have been her mentors during her life. The star concluded her winner’s speech by quoting her character, Katharine Graham:

And the time’s up so let’s go girls. Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go!

Unfortunately, the gala night isn’t televised, so maybe, that is why some speeches were more free-wheeling than we got used to hear.
