Years after Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s separation, their split keeps making headlines. A royal expert is sharing details on a photo of Prince Charles with William and Harry that made Princess Diana jealous.

Painting Prince Charles in a bad light
Royal author Penny Junor claims the Princess of Wales took a step to humiliate her husband just before their split was announced. The book Diana: Her True Story written by Andrew Morton was released.

It revealed the princess’ unhappiness as a member of the royal family. According to Junor in her book The Firm, Prince Charles was embarrassed by the publication saying:
It painted the blackest portrait; out not only called him a cold and faithless husband and a bad father, but it also questioned his fitness to be king.
Diana’s jealousy
Former newspaper editor Eve Pollard claims that a photo of Prince Charles with his sons, William and Harry made Princess Diana jealous. According to Pollard the picture at that time suggested how close Charles was to his children which angered Diana.
Speaking to Yahoo UK’s The Royal Box, the former editor of the Sunday Mirror said the photograph was taken during a ski holiday. The British prince was seen playing with friends of William and Harry. She explained further:
There was a lovely picture of him taking William and Harry skiing I think and they were accompanied by two other boys and in this picture, I think Prince Charles pretended to strangle one of the boys.
We wrote a piece saying ‘he obviously knows his sons’ friends well’, which means he obviously spends quite a bit of time with them, otherwise you wouldn’t pretend to strangle a nine… 10… 11-year-old, and I think she wasn’t very pleased with that.

Alienating the boys from their father
A royal biography The Royals written by Kitty Kelley shed some light on Diana’s relationship with her sons following her divorce from Charles. The book claims Sarah Ferguson criticized the Princess over her attempts to "alienate" Harry and William from their father.
According to the book:
Diana constantly asked the little Princes, ‘Who loves you the best? Who loves you more than anything else in the whole world? And the boys were supposed to say, ‘You do, Mummy. You do.’ Sarah felt that was troubling.
