Royal tradition to send Christmas cards

A good old tradition of sending Christmas cards spans decades. Members of the royal family started to send their official Christmas cards more than a century ago.

Of course, those throwback cards were more formal than the ones which monarchs send nowadays. Queen Elizabeth II’s grandparents were the first British monarchs who sent their greeting card to the troops fighting in WWI.

Though William and Kate didn’t release the card on their official social media channels, one of the recepients briefly posted the picture, and some fans were lucky to make screenshoots in time and share them on Instagram. This-year Christmas card of the Cambridges features the entire family together.

What about the Sussexes?

Meanwhile, people keep wondering whether Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will release their official Christmas card this year. And if they do, will it feature their baby son Archie?

Some fans suggest that Harry and Meghan will skip sending cards this Christmas due to their 6-week break from royal duties. As it was reported earlier, the Sussexes will spend the festive season in the USA with the Duchess’ mother Doria Ragland.
