Nate Berkus And Jeremiah Brent Open Up About Surrogacy And Welcoming Their Baby Boy Oskar
Time flies by so fast! It seems like Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent welcomed their second bundle of joy just yesterday. But in reality, Oskar Brent-Berkus is already three months old!
The baby boy joined his older sister, 3-year-old Poppy. Both children were born via surrogate, and their parents feel the need to talk more about this beautiful experience.
How was it for Nate and Jeremiah?
As the couple revealed, they tried to include Poppy from the start so that she felt involved and was excited for the arrival of Oskar. The girl met the surrogate, saw ultrasound photos, and even attended doctor’s appointments. This way, her parents wanted to make sure Poppy knows how and when her sibling was coming:
The kids are going to want to know someday how it happened. There won’t be ambiguity or surprises.
As for both surrogates, Nate and Jeremiah maintain great relationships with them and can’t help but constantly thank them for completing their family.
Besides, Poppy turned out to be a great sister! Berkus and Brent added that they had absolutely no problems with their daughter meeting Oskar. She is constantly cuddling him, and in his turn, little brother is laughing when he sees her all the time:
We always thought she’d be sweet, but we never thought she’d be so kind and nurturing. It’s pretty adorable.
Of course, the topic of same-sex couples welcoming children via surrogates causes mixed reactions, and Brent-Berkus’ story was not an exception. While some people shower the happy family with congratulations, some still believe all children need a mother and a father.
But without a doubt, both Poppy and Oskar will grow up knowing they’re loved and valued by both of their parents.
