"My Goal To Be 65 And You All Say, 'What Happened To Oprah?'" TV Queen Reveals How She Lost 42 Lbs
It’s no secret that Oprah’s weight has fluctuated over the years. Oprah Winfrey is one of those names that you know no matter what age you are.
Perhaps no person on the planet has had a more public battle with their weight than Winfrey, who has undoubtedly seen her ups and downs throughout the years.
Oprah vows to keep the weight off
After recently shedding an impressive 42 pounds, Oprah Winfrey is feeling better than ever. And while she’s happy about her remarkable weight loss, the 64-year-old plans to continue to work at it despite her age. She shared that:
I really want to get more fit and stronger and see if I can blow it out at 65. Blow it out! My goal to be 65 and you all say, ‘What happened to Oprah? She is ripped’.
But that doesn’t mean she’s going to drive herself crazy if she doesn’t continue to slim down.
If I didn’t lose another pound, I still feel really fantastic. I’m not trying to be skinny, not trying for a size. I’m just trying to be as healthy as my body wants to be.
Self-love is very important to the media mogul
Now in her 60’s, it is much harder to lose weight, but Winfrey is still finding a way, and she has a support system with longtime partner Stedman Graham. Winfrey said that:
We do hold each other accountable. … I’m excited that other people are bringing in their friends and family members because it’s been my philosophy forever that life is better together.
But while she’s never been one to shy away from sharing her life’s considerable low points (they’re part of why she’s such an inspiration to so many), including the emotional effects of crash dieting and her other stabs at rapid weight loss over the years, it’s still hard to picture Winfrey — the queen of self-reliance and self-made glory — not having conquer-the-world-level self-esteem.
Because if she’s not living her best life 24/7, what hope is there for everyone else?
The Weight Watchers journey
Oprah has lost the weight by adhering to Weight Watchers’ diet and exercise regimen. She joined the popular program in October 2015 after investing in the company.
“I believe in the @WeightWatchers program so much I decided to invest, join the board, and partner in [the] #WWFamily evolution,” she wrote on Twitter at the time.
Sticking to the points program of Weight Watchers has been the key, as Winfrey says she eats what she wants as long as she sticks to her daily allotment, and she passes on foods that would put her over that magic number.
Keep it up, Oprah!
