It has been announced that Meryl Streep will be joining the cast of the award-winning HBO series Big Little Lies in season two.

Streep, who just received her 21st Academy Awards nomination, will be working on the show with other Oscar winners like Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman.

Her role

The beautiful and iconic actress will be playing the role of Mary Louise Wright, the mother of Perry Wright (played by Alexander Skarsgard).

Perry died at the end of season 1 after a confrontation with the characters of Witherspoon, Kidman, Laura Dern, Zoe Kravitz, and Shailene Woodley. But there are reports that Skarsgard, who plays the deceased character, will return for the show’s second season.

Mary Louise Wright arrives at Monterey to seek answers after the death of her son and is concerned with her grandchildren’s welfare.

‘Big Little Lies’

The drama TV series was based on a novel written by Liane Moriarty. The show premiered in February 2017, and the first season wrapped up in April.

Big Little Lies became popular right from the beginning, and critics have mostly positive things to say about it. The series received 16 Emmy Award nominations and eight wins.
