Kate Middleton has recently paid a visit to the Great Ormond Street Hospital and Children’s Charity in order to open the Mittal Children’s Medical Centre. This information was provided by the official account of the royal family on Facebook.

It is an interesting fact that while visiting the facility, the Duchess of Cambridge didn’t wear an engagement ring. Instead, there was a plain gold band on her finger. It was a big surprise for a lot of people, as she usually wears a famous ring that used to belong to Princess Diana.

But it turned out that there is a special and very important reason for this action: hospital’s policy regarding jewelry, according to which there should be a minimum amount of it. Kate Middleton was visiting young patients and doing some art activities with them. Before entering certain areas it was required to wash hands, so that is why it is better not to wear a lot of jewelry.

It is worth noticing that the Duchess of Cambridge put her ring on again once she left the hospital. And during her next visit to the Wimbledon Junior Tennis Initiative on the same day, people could admire her beautiful engagement ring on the finger.

By the way, Kate Middleton’s ring is a real masterpiece: It consists of a 12-carat sapphire, surrounded by 14 diamonds. According to some information, it’s estimated price is $500,000. What a big treasure it is!
