Gigi Hadid opens up on her special condition

Supermodel Gigi Hadid went on social media to reveal a rare disease that has affected her look. When Gigi was 17, she was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease, a condition that initially caused her to retain water.

Patients diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease struggle with difficulties from the body’s immune system. Symptoms can include fatigue, pain, and unexplained weight gain.

In her message, Gigi addressed people who called her “too big for the industry” and explained that her weight was changing due to water retention and inflammation caused by her specific condition.

Since Gigi was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease, she started a treatment that helped her thyroid levels balance out. Respectively, her recent weight loss is connected with her medical treatment but not with a strict diet.

She added that models need to eat enough to keep balance and maintain their health.

I may be ‘too skinny’ for you, honestly this skinny isn’t what I want to be, but I feel healthier internally and am still learning and growing with my body every day, as everyone is.

To draw the conclusion, Gigi made a request to all critics to not judge her and other models if they don’t know the whole story: “Some people still think it’s okay to police other people’s bodies, but it’s not.”
