Their paths crossed again at the MGM’s silver anniversary party. Ava drove past Sinatra in her green Cadillac, he raised his hat to catch her attention, and their eyes met. Gardner remembered that look and his smile:

He was so handsome, with his thin, boyish face, bright blue eyes, and incredible grin. And he was so enthusiastic and invigorated, clearly pleased with life, in general, himself, in particular, and, at that moment, me.

The couple knew it was love. The divorce papers were quickly signed, and in 1951, Frank and Ava got married.

Their marriage was followed closely by the American press. It’s easy to understand because when two famous celebrities announce the whole world about their relationships, it becomes difficult to keep their private life in secret.
