Frank Sinatra And Ava Gardner: Why Two People Madly In Love With Each Other Could Not Be Together?
People admire the true love stories. Real characters and vivid emotions are very appealing. There are different types of love. But, how we should call the feeling that makes such an impact on two people that they can’t stay apart from each other and completely dissolve in their deep feelings? True and mad love! Such was the case with Frank Sinatra and Ava Gardner.
True and mad love
Sinatra was one of the most popular musical artists of the 20th century, and Gardner was famous American actress and singer. They both were married when they met. Frank even had three children with his first wife, Nancy. But their strong feelings didn’t accept the obstacles. When Sinatra saw Ava’s photo in a magazine, he told himself that he would marry that woman one day.
They first met at a friend’s party. Frank was astonished by Ava’s beauty. But he didn’t impress her from the first sight, she was considering him “too arrogant, overpowering and conceited.”
Their paths crossed again at the MGM’s silver anniversary party. Ava drove past Sinatra in her green Cadillac, he raised his hat to catch her attention, and their eyes met. Gardner remembered that look and his smile:
He was so handsome, with his thin, boyish face, bright blue eyes, and incredible grin. And he was so enthusiastic and invigorated, clearly pleased with life, in general, himself, in particular, and, at that moment, me.
The couple knew it was love. The divorce papers were quickly signed, and in 1951, Frank and Ava got married.
Their marriage was followed closely by the American press. It’s easy to understand because when two famous celebrities announce the whole world about their relationships, it becomes difficult to keep their private life in secret.
Happy marriage ruined by jealousy
The couple’s close friends revealed that their marriage was wracked by feelings of insane jealousy each carried, whether it concerned a co-star or devoted fan.
They were clearly mad about each other but were unable to find much peace together.
Their marriage went through many difficulties, and in 1953, the pair divorced. But despite all jealousy and common offenses, Frank and Ava managed to get along with each other after the divorce. Gardner got involved in new relationships, but she never got married again.
Frank and I became lovers forever, eternally. Big words, I know, but I truly felt that no matter what happened we would always be in love.
Sinatra also got new relationships and even remarried again. But each year, for Ava’s birthday, he sent her a beautiful bouquet of her favorite flowers. Sinatra told that Ava was his only love for the rest of his life.
Frank Sinatra and Ava Gardner’s love story is the one that never dies.
