Four US Presidential Generations Paid Tribute To Late Barbara Bush In This Historic Photo

Many political figures came out to pay their respects to former First Lady Barbara Bush, who passed away last week at the age of 92. Former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama attended the funeral accompanied by their wives Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama. In addition, the current First Lady, Melania Trump, also made an appearance and was seated next to her peers.

Legendary photo is born

Such remarkable turnout allowed for a very special photograph to happen. Representatives of several political generations came together in a warm tribute to the late Barbara Bush.

Four former U.S. presidents, including George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama, were featured in the photo. Their wives, Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush, and Michelle Obama, as well as the current FLOTUS, Melania Trump, joined the former leaders.

Even though Donald Trump was noticeably absent from the funeral service and, as a result, the photograph, people weren’t upset about it. The touching photo blew up on social media and was wonderfully received, which could’ve been slightly compromised had the current president made an appearance after all.

Why was Donald Trump absent from the service?

The White House released a statement, which explained why the U.S. president didn’t attend Barbara Bush’s funeral.

[In order] to avoid disruptions due to added security, and out of respect for the Bush family and friends attending the service.

Notably, none of the former presidents attended funerals of the former First Ladies during their term. Barack Obama skipped the service of Nancy Reagan and Betty Ford, Bill Clinton didn’t show up to pay respects to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and George W. Bush was absent from the funeral of Bird Johnson.
