Eva Mendes And Ryan Gosling’s Kids Don’t Speak English At Home
No doubt, Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are a gorgeous couple. From their wedding ceremony to growing their two daughters, they tend to do everything their own way. Although Ryan and Eva tend to keep their relationship out of the spotlight, Mendes recently opened up about her family in the interview with People Chica.

Gosling and Mendes got together while filming The Place Beyond The Pines in 2011. In the film, they portrayed boyfriend and girlfriend, after which they decided to take their characters’ relationship off-screen to real life, leaving many Gosling’s fans utterly heartbroken.
Years after the couple made their relationship known to public, pregnancy rumors began to circulate. But they kept the pregnancy in secret for months. The Latin-American actress even denied that she’s expecting a baby when she was confronted on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2014. But despite the secrecy, the couple was very happy to welcome their daughter, Esmeralda Amada, who was born in 2014. Gosling later commented on being a father, saying that it “feels like a dream.” Their second daughter, Amada Lee, was born in 2016.
Gosling and Mendes quietly tied the knot in 2016. Despite being the A-list stars, they want to give their kids a “normal upbringing,” and don’t have a nanny to help in raising them. Eva even stayed at home with their daughter, while Gosling attended Golden Globes where he won the Best Actor for his performance in La La Land.
During an interview with People Chica, Mendes mentioned that her family celebrates its Cuban heritage.
Esmeralda mostly speaks Spanglish right now. It’s really cute. She’s definitely bilingual, and it’s really important for us to make sure that she’s not only just familiar with the language, but also with the culture.
Mendes’ parents play a big role in raising her daughters.
My mom, who lives 15 minutes away, makes it is easy because she speaks to the girls in Spanish and cooks them Cuban food. And we’re always listening to Cuban music. It really is a big part of our way of life. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
She also said:
My dad, who has been here for 45 years and still doesn’t speak English, is a real asset. It’s so cool because now that I’m trying to make sure that my girls speak Spanish, it’s like, ‘Ok, Dad, take them,’ because I know that all they’re going to speak with him is Spanish.
Having a strong family bond is probably why Gosling couldn’t stop thanking Mendes during his 2017 Golden Globes acceptance speech:
You don’t get to be up here without standing on the shoulders of a mountain…While I was singing and dancing and playing piano, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second and trying to help her brother with his battle with cancer. If she hadn’t taken all that on so I could have this experience [someone else would be up here]. Sweetheart, thank you.
