Donald Trump Sparks Outrage Once Again As He Points Out How Difficult It Is To Be A Man In America
United States President Donald Trump has upset people once again when he implied men are being victimized in the country.
A scary time for American men
While speaking with reporters in the White House, Donald Trump sympathized with men, such as Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, who has been accused of sexual assault.
The POTUS said:
It is a very scary time for young men in America when you could be guilty of something you may not be guilty of. This is a very, very — this is a very difficult time.
His words were in response to the comments made by his son, Donald Trump Jr., who told DailyMail TV that due to the era of the #metoo movement and women speaking out about being assaulted, he was more worried for his sons these days than his daughters.
President Trump said:
It’s a tough thing going on. You can be an exemplary person for 35 years, and then somebody comes along, and they say you did this or that, and they give three witnesses, and the three witnesses at this point do not corroborate what she’s saying. It’s a very scary situation where you’re guilty until proven innocent.
Not a lot of people took kindly to this statement. Many of them felt like the President was siding with sexual transgressors, rather than their female victims. Some took to the internet to express their anger at Trump’s message, insisting that the only men who should be afraid are the guilty ones.
The Trump administration has been taking a lot of heat lately, following Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination into the Supreme Court. Right now, Kavanaugh’s confirmation is being delayed, as the FBI continues to investigate the allegations of sexual assault, made by three women.
So far, Kavanaugh has been denying the allegations and claimed that them to ‘the work’ of the Democrats, who want to ensure he does not get the seat in the Supreme Court.
Misogyny or misinterpretation
Only a few days ago, the President came under fire when he, apparently, insulted a female reporter.
After calling on the lady to speak, he made a joke saying the reporter was "shocked" that he picked her. Then, Trump said to the reporter:
I know you’re not thinking. You never do.
Many accused the President of misogyny because he implied that the reporter is unintelligent simply because she’s a woman.
President Donald Trump has received a lot of backlash due to his controversial statement. One has to wonder if he really means what he says or is he misunderstood?
