A soon-to-be released documentary claims that the British pop star, George Michael, may have died of a broken heart.

George Michael’s grief

The singer was apparently quite distraught after his mother and Brazilian lover, Anselmo Feleppa, died and gave in to what is called ‘complicated grief disorder’.

His lover died of an AIDs related complication in 1993, while his mother died in 1997 after her battle with cancer at 60.

 He never recovered

George Michael also lost his dad and uncle to suicide and gave in to a life of drugs and antidepressants to deal with his grief.

The British star died in 2016 on Christmas Day in his home. He was 53 when he died, and his dead was judged a peaceful one.

In the documentary, Autopsy: The Last Hours of George Michael, which aired in the U.S. on Sunday, a psychologist, Dr. Linda Papadopoulos, said it was possible that the singer never dealt with his grief.

Reliance on drugs

An ex-lover, Kenny Goss, said he tried to help George by flushing the abusive substance down the toilet, but his drug use only escalated.

The singer left behind some of the greatest hits of the 1980s, including Careless Whispers. He continues to be missed.
