A new policy under the Donald Trump administration is causing quite the stir, and one of the celebrities to speak out against it is Caitlyn Jenner. This policy reportedly aims to classify gender based on the genitalia a person is born with. Which means transgender people may not be recognized as their preferred gender.

On Sunday, The New York Times published a memo that basically explains how the administration will determine whether a person is male or female based on what they are born as. The memo also stated that if there are any disputes about a person’s gender, it will be resolved based on genetic testing.

Sex means a person’s status as male or female based on immutable biological traits identifiable by or before birth. The sex listed on a person’s birth certificate, as originally issued, shall constitute definitive proof of a person’s sex unless rebutted by reliable genetic evidence.

Caitlyn speaks out

In an interview with PEOPLE, Caitlyn, who is transgender, spoke against what this policy entails. She mentioned that Trump was ‘attacking’ the LGBTQ community with these policies.

Caitlyn. who was previously known as Bruce Jenner,  became one of the most famous faces of the transgender community when she underwent a gender confirmation surgery in 2017. This was two years after revealing to the world that her new identity is Caitlyn. She had previously been open about supporting Trump and even voted for him because she believed his reign as the President will be a positive thing for LGBTQ rights.

Despite the fact that many people disagreed with what this policy represented, there were those who agreed that this was a good idea. They cited instances where it can be unfair for a woman who was born male to compete with other women who were born female. In other words, the change of gender may not automatically change everything about a person.

Well Caitlyn formerly Bruce Jenner is still a guy who can overpower a woman in the women’s restroom, in sports and no dress and makeup can change it. I read Transgender females born males want to compete against born females in sports, that would be unfair

Would it be fair for @Caitlyn_Jenner to compete in a race of women athletes? Women are being harmed because men are becoming transgender and then competing against them. We have fought too hard for where we are! There has to be some rules.
